Our ballet classes

Every little girl dreams of being able to wear tutu and being a ballerina. Here at Arabesque we can make those dreams come true. We start with a Toddler class suitable for children who are walking up to the age of three.

This class is great way to introduce the young dancer to dance and will help to develop their musicality, sense of rhythm, special awareness, co ordination and also their social skills.

From 3 years old children move on to attend our Tinies ballet class where the class is a little more structure, although totally fun based learning where the children are learning the very beginnings of ballet technique.  At 3 years old a child’s development  is such that they can start to progress with their learning and attempt things that require a little more technical ability. The children learn through role play and imagery.

Once they start school they move into a Pre primary class. This is a more structured class with specific exercises that form part of the syllabus for their first exam.

Whilst exams are not compulsory we find that the children really benefit from having a goal to work towards and get a great deal from doing them and achieving the certificate before they move on to the next stage.

The exam syllabus we follow is the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) , www.istd.org, although we do also offer the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus for the major exams. www.rad.org.uk
